Troubleshooting
Most GridLion issues come down to permissions, macOS Mission Control settings, or transient display topology changes after wake.
Start with Health Check
Open GridLion from the menu bar and choose Health Check.... The Health Check window is the fastest way to confirm whether the app can see the required permissions and system state.
Shortcuts do not fire
- Confirm Accessibility permission is enabled for the installed GridLion app.
- Quit and reopen GridLion after changing the permission.
- Check whether another app already owns the same shortcut.
- Re-record the shortcut in GridLion settings.
Space switching feels wrong
Turn off Automatically rearrange Spaces based on most recent use. If macOS keeps changing the real Space order, GridLion has to reconcile against a moving target.
If Mission Control or App Expose is currently open, GridLion avoids posting synthetic Space-switching gestures until those overlays are gone.
Screenshot previews are missing
- Confirm you are on macOS 14 or later for screenshot-backed Space previews.
- Enable Screen Recording permission for GridLion.
- Quit and reopen GridLion if macOS asks for a restart after permission changes.
- Check Display > OSD > Preview Snapshot settings.
Missing screenshots do not block switching. GridLion falls back to app icons, titles, and neutral cells.
Multi-display behavior changed after wake
macOS can briefly report collapsed or incomplete Space lists after wake or a display change. GridLion waits for topology to stabilize before persisting topology-sensitive layout changes.
If a display was intentionally detached and the changed layout remains stable, GridLion will eventually accept the new topology instead of suppressing Space snapshots forever.
After a macOS update
GridLion works closely with Spaces and Mission Control. If a major macOS update changes behavior, check for a GridLion update from the About settings pane and re-run Health Check.
